Back it on up

Let's get you caught up on how we managed to get moved in by Christmas shall we!

On December 11, I told you about our drywall deadline and how we worked our butts off to get it done in time for the electrician.

What I didn't tell you is that through the generosity of my parents (who gave us a loan) we were able to hire out the taping and mudding after all!!!

We're officially home-owners

I know what you're thinking... "Ali! You're crazy! You've owned your home for a year and a half!"

But do you know what makes you a true home-owner?

Not renovating it.

Not paying the bills.

Not even living in it can qualify you for that title.

The true coronation into home-ownership is when something goes wrong and you realize it's up to YOU to fix it.

This week, Jake and I have officially earned our crowns (and I think mine is a lot less pretty than I would have hoped it to be...)

Better late than never - 2017 In Review!

So, yes. We have moved into our house.

But this post is going to ignore that for the most part and I will instead do my year-end review!

I know. I'm sorry. I have so much to share with you all, and I was ready to do this post before the year actually ended, the problem is that we don't have internet in our house. Nor are we intending to get it any time soon. Crazy, right?! I might regret these words later, but for now, I can honestly say that I am loving it. I am reading way more, we eat at the table together, projects are still moving along, oh and I even mopped the floors one day while waiting for Jake to pick me up because I had time. If we had TV or internet I can 100% guarantee that I would NOT have done that.

It's go time!

Just over 1 month ago Jake and I gave ourselves a deadline to have our drywall completed.

We do this from time to time.

The problem is that life usually knocks on the door and offers something way more enticing than renovations so we tactfully ignore the deadline like an acquaintance that just won't take the hint.

Things like... literally anything to do with Christmas!

"We don't want to be rude, but really... we just don't want to hang out okay?!"

We're all winners!

Ever since we bought the house (about a million years ago), Jake and I have been arguing over one particular topic.

The Garden

July 2016

We're both on the same page for what we want, we're just on very different pages on how to get it.

From day one, Jake has been team "Rip it Out" while I am firmly on team "Save Money and Use What We Have".

Well folks, I am here to tell you that The Great Garden Debate has come to its happy conclusion and with ZERO losers!

The ramblings of a mad woman

Here's the thing.

I'm too excited to write about the stuff that's already happened.

Our first pile of drywall. Brought into the house in August.
That is how far behind I am...

FINALLY! - 2nd floor tour!

Soooo clearly I'm something of a procrastinator.
The downstairs tours were posted way back in May... MAY!

But to make up for it, I'm not going to split the second floor tours up into multiple posts.. I'm just going to go ahead and dump them all here for your viewing pleasure!

Welcome to our second floor!
