Since finding the dry rot we had to change gears on our demolition plans but we hope to get some of it taken care of this weekend. Which is a very good thing because the temperature around here has dropped quite drastically in the last week. As a lover of cold weather, I am floored. But as an owner of a partially demolished house that does not have insulation in it or the heat turned on? I am less than enthused.
But onto the main topic of this post: our lives, more specifically... HALLOWEEN.
From September until pretty much the end of January is my all-time favourite. There is SO much to do, I love the clothes, I love the food, I love how deliciously busy (in the best way) I get.

Kallonen Maple Farm.
This Fall hasn't been nearly as exciting as previous ones mainly because we are pouring most of our time and money into the house. Next year I hope we will be able to really go all-out for Halloween! But until that time, we're (who am I kidding... it's pretty much just me) taking all of our holiday enthusiasm out on costumes for a huge Halloween party in Hamilton.
Last year's party
Last year we decided to check out this party with our friends Dave and Candice (who else?!) and boy it did not disappoint. I think something like 800 tickets were sold and we had an absolute blast.
I didn't take many pictures last year, and most of them kind of stink but I'll show you what I can.
Candice decided to go as a modified 1920's flapper (I say modified because to save on cost she just borrowed one of my party dresses which is totally not flapper... it's just covered in black sequins so... close enough ha ha!)
Dave went as Krieger from the cartoon show Archer. I don't really have a good picture of his costume unfortunately, but this is what he was supposed to look like:
I went as Lara Croft (a choice made from necessity. I was getting frustrated at not being able to pull off the flapper thing as authentically as I wanted to so I just looked in my closet and put together a quick costume that only required me to buy the guns and thigh holsters ha ha!) I'll be the first to admit that it was not one of my better costumes...
Candice and I last year.
Jake easily had the best costume of the night though. He simply went as "Jake from State Farm". If you have no idea what that is, you either don't live around here or have been living under a rock. Here is the commercial:
The whole night he had people yelling out "HEY!! WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?!"
Alas, this is the only picture I took of him that night that isn't too blurry to comprehend.
See his State Farm name tag that I made him?
That was literally the extent of effort put into making this costume ha ha
If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you'd have seen this already :)
I believe I will leave you here but for your viewing pleasure, please enjoy some pictures of a few of my favourite costumes I've put together in the past:
2010 for a house party.
I was Lady Gaga.
My best friend Liz was Cruella de Vil that year.
2011 for a friend's work Halloween Party.
I had chopped off my long hair and decided to go as Snow White.
Liz was Tinkerbell and our friend Kaylea was a Musketeer.
2014. I wore this to work lol
I put this Wednesday Adams costume together the night before
And yes... that is my own hair.
*Disclaimer: Christmas is the BEST holiday. But Halloween is the most fun. In my not-so-humble opinion*
