I am well aware that I am, in fact, the worst

It's been over a month since my last blog post.

It's been even longer than that since I had anything new to say about renovations.

And I STILL have nothing new to say about renovations.

I'm afraid we've hit a bit of a lull on that front. We've had a few contractors come in to get quotes on getting the dry rot fixed and due to a financial and timing thing we've decided to fix it ourselves after all. A lot of back and forth on that one for sure. But aside from that, we've hardly had time to work on the house. Our weekends have been insane and our weeknights aren't helpful thanks to the lack of sunlight.

Here's a long-dead wasp nest we found in the wall while taking the insulation out of our bedroom.
Good times.

So this post will instead be dedicated to the things we've been doing INSTEAD of renovating. Mostly as a way to appease those who have threatened me for not posting more (literally no one).

As you all know, we went to a big Halloween party again this year. And this was the first time I'd ever been a part of a group costume before. That was actually a pretty fun aspect of costume planning.

We went as a pilot, co-pilot, and two stewardesses and had an absolute blast!
Here is how it turned out:

Weight Loss on the Wild Side:
As I'm sure I've mentioned before (maybe not...) my sister-in-law is a Naturopathic Medical Intern. She recently designed a weight loss program called Weight Loss on the Wild Side. I decided to be a part of the Beta Trial as a way to ensure I would look great for the holidays as well as for a wedding I was going to (more on that below).

Let me start by saying that I hate dieting and I LOATHE working out. Passionately. And this program is not by any means easy. But the thing that kept me going was the fact that there was an end date.

I completely endorse it though because I had to stop following it at the end of week 4 (it's a 6-week long program) due to the fact that I couldn't afford to get any smaller or my dress for the wedding wouldn't fit. That's right... I had to stop a weight loss program because it had worked TOO well ha ha!

I have learned SO much about nutrition and ideal ways to lose fat while gaining muscle that I will very easily be able to apply this to my life as I see fit (it will come in spurts most likely lol)

I haven't taken any "after" pictures but here are some pictures that kind of show case improvements I've made:

Here is my first attempt at a handstand. I hadn't done one in well over a decade.

My less than graceful dismount.

I was SO happy that I could do it even that little bit lol

And in comparison, this is a mere THREE days after I tried it for that first time.
I can now get up and down without any help at all and am ALMOST to the point of doing push-ups while in a handstand.
(I haven't attempted it in a week so we'll see how that goes lol)

For our birthdays, Jake and I did a few things here and there. He took me to a Christmas Craft show in Stratford (a true depiction of love) and we went out for dinner. We also went to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them on my actual birthday (Harry Potter nerd here!) AND we went on a date to Chapters which is one of our favourite things to do.

One of the cooler items Jake got me this year was this mug:
Awesome birthday mug.

It was originally just black and white but it came with markers so you could colour it in. I spent a few hours one night doing that and then all I had to do was bake it and now it will be coloured forever!

Our friend Kaylea got married this past Saturday so we spent the evening celebrating with her.
It was a beautiful wedding with some pretty great moments throughout the night.

Just a note on how old slash house consumed Jake and I are, after the ceremony we talked about the valence boxes and the crown moulding in the reception space.... Yeah... we've become THOSE people.

Anyway, with permission I received from the bride, here are some pictures from the gorgeous event:

Gorgeous bride, Kaylea, walking down the aisle.

Just after they said their vows.

Excuse the strange exposure, the photographer had a flash going at the same time lol

Newly weds!!

I fell hard in love with her veil.

Which now brings me to my final update....

Custom Dress:

A friend of mine is a seamstress and currently on maternity leave so I contacted her a few months ago asking if she might be able to make a dress for me to wear to this wedding.

In September we met up so she could take my measurements and so we could sit down and design the dress together. We went to Toronto in October to buy the material (which was a challenge when you're not the most wealthy of people but have the most wealthy of people's taste in quality).

We had numerous fittings to make sure everything was perfect and here is the final results of all her hard work!

This dress was so luxurious and yet it felt like I was wearing pyjamas.
THAT'S how comfortable it was.
I had SO many compliments on it and people kept asking me where I got it from because they'd never seen anything like it.

Blurry picture but I couldn't resist posting it because you can really see the movement and shape in this picture.

Dancing to the live piano during cocktail hour.
SUCH a good dancing dress.
My friend even caught me dancing by myself.
I was constantly moving just to see/feel the skirt sway.
I can't wait to find an excuse to wear this dress again. It was seriously amazing so huge shout out to Samantha I Designs for hitting this one out of the park!

That is all for now. Expect another post whenever I get around to writing one. I cannot guarantee it will be about the house either :D
