In my last post, I explained that Jake and I were in "psycho mode" trying to get a million things done by a specific deadline.
That deadline was set because we had booked the electrician in to wire the whole house while we were on vacation (over two weeks of cruising around Scandinavia = pure heaven).
Just boarded the plane.
We ended up pushing the deadline back because we were becoming so stressed about getting the house ready that we kept forgetting to get ourselves ready. But due to my complete and utter failure to post frequently, I can joyfully state that the electrical is in despite the timeline being pushed back !
Well... roughed in. Which is an amazing start!
I will do a post on our vacation and some of the incredible things we did, saw, and bought. But I thought for now I would bring you all up to speed on the house.
Let's just glaze over this one quickly. We have neglected it bad. All of our time is spent inside these days trying to get as much done as we possibly can to FINALLY move in. So our dedication to the gardens has practically disappeared. And then being gone for over 2 weeks really took its toll and I've slightly given up until further notice.
The gardens are wild once more...
At this point it will take too much time to put everything back into sorts so I figured I'd just wait until the Fall and make it tame again at that point.
Waiting for the Fall has the added benefit of keeping me out of the heat, which everyone knows I despise.
As far as flowers go, the peonies have come and gone, so have the roses (I assume that was my neglect) but others are starting to bloom which is nice. So far we haven't really had any span of time without at least one type of flower in bloom.
This one is a bit more exciting because SO MUCH HAS HAPPENED!!
I will go into detail on things in subsequent posts (I know I've said that before and rarely followed through, but this time Jake is the one telling me I need to write about it all.. and if JAKE is telling me I should, then things have gotten really bad)
As I said up above, all of the electrical has been roughed in:
Getting to the house after work and seeing this was like a drug for me.
Water closet in the master bathroom is all framed up!
As of this week, all of our duct work is finished (minus a few minor changes we have to make to 2 return vents):
New HVAC in the living room.
We will be creating bulkheads for them, but intend to add them as an architectural feature rather than a crummy old normal bulkhead.
And then last night I went ahead and installed some insulation:
Insulation in the guest bedroom.
It suddenly feels like a room again, not just studs.
This was a huge step that made me feel really happy about our progress
As I said, I will do some posts relating to each of these awesome things so you can see more pictures and understand the full context of what we've done. But for now, this is where we stand, and I am so happy with how far we have finally come.
Don't be afraid to leave comments here. I am genuinely interested in what you have to say! (Also, it feels like my blog becomes vindicated when people talk to me about it, which is a GREAT way to sooth my vanity 😁)
