The Leather Year

Happy Anniversary to the only guy who can infuriate me and make me laugh within the course of a single sentence. He's also the only guy who could possibly handle all of my crazy and for that, I am grateful.

Yep! One more year added to the Jake and Alison marriage tally. 3 down, 22 to go! (Or something like that..)

This year has brought more challenges than either of us could have ever imagined. On this day last year we were still naively hopeful about how long our renovations would take (such sweet innocence looking back!).

The cool thing about it though is just how much we've managed to learn.
About our town - which both of us grew up in... who knew there was so much we didn't know!
About our house - hearing from people who lived in the house or knew it by other means has been such a joy for both of us!
About renovating an old house almost completely DIY - this one is pretty self-explanatory...
And even about ourselves - because our renovations are taking so long, our opinions and views often shift and change by circumstances. We've had so many ideas and jolts of inspiration that would never have happened if we managed to actually get things done on our original timeline.

Tonight we're celebrating by putting up some vapor barrier and then treating ourselves to the extremely ritzy meal of PC White Cheddar Macaroni & Cheese (with the added flair of bacon bits! Oo la la!)

Our real celebration will come this Saturday when we carry on the tradition of going to the Aberfoyle Antique Market's Fall Show. Last year we picked up the totally amazing doorbell that has yet to be installed. We have a few shopping goals in mind for this year, but maybe we should add something leather to our list?  Leather is the traditional 3rd anniversary gift after all.

We've given ourselves the day off on Saturday to celebrate surviving 3 years but come Sunday it's back to work! The end* is in sight, we can't slow down now!

*Note: the term "the end" is used very loosely. Here meaning something akin to "move-in date"*

Don't be afraid to leave comments here. I am genuinely interested in what you have to say! (Also, it feels like my blog becomes vindicated when people talk to me about it, which is a GREAT way to sooth my vanity 😁)
